Resignation as the Propaganda Secretary

[edit]

@Kalpanasundar: has changed this:

  • Under the instructions of MGR, She resigned as the Propaganda Secretary on 20 August 1984 to pacify the disgruntled leaders in the party.

to this:

  • On May 25, 1984, Jayalalithaa submitted her resignation as the AIADMK’s Propaganda Secretary, but MGR initially declined to accept it. However, following MGR’s instructions, she officially resigned from the post on August 20, 1984, in an effort to appease the disgruntled leaders within the party. In her resignation, she noted that it had increasingly seemed as though she was solely blamed for the confusion and divisions within the party. MGR subsequently accepted her resignation.

The citation for both versions was given as "Riven by internal dissension, AIADMK Government virtually splits". India Today. 15 September 1984. Retrieved 29 April 2014.

Comments

  • The article uses 20 August 1984 date format; all new text (except quotations) should follow that format. I will fix this.
  • The new version has curly quotation marks. I will fix this.
  • The cited source said: None of the resignations has been accepted as yet. So the "MGR subsequently accepted her resignation" is unsupported by the source.
  • The old version had the phrase "Under the instructions of MGR", but that was not supported by the source. The new version says "following MGR’s instructions", but I do not see how the source supports that.
